Quiet Weekend

No pictures to post. The boys are at Grandma and Grandpa Pruett's house for the weekend. We've heard some interesting stories already and they are having a great time. Nick and Alex are so blessed to have two amazing sets of grandparents!
Grandma Pruett called me yesterday and put the boys on speaker phone. They said they were filling up their treasure chest. Apparently, she bought a money drawer that counts the money as you put it in. The boys kept saying we need to find more money and Grandma was saying I already gave you all the money from my purse and Grandpa's drawer. Nick kept saying in the background 'now the treasure is all mine' in a diabolical cartoon voice.
I wonder what Grandpa was thinking when he got home and all his money was missing!

Finally pictures of the lost tooth

Everyone's Happy

Ryan is happy because he got a new Tassimo Machine. We tried to estimate how many cups of coffee his last one made- it was a lot!

Nick is happy because he got to watch two movies after AWANA tonight and finished his AWANA book for which he got a whole candy bar. He shared with Alex.

Alex is happy because he picked out a lunchable for dinner with cookies and I think only ate the cookies and maybe two pieces of bologna.

I'm happy because I have such an amazing family. What a difference being home for 8 months makes! The boys played outside today for such a long time while Ryan grilled and I set the table. First I had to scrub the table down- we ate outside. I can't believe the difference in those two. They ran all over the yard playing with sticks and on the playground and with balls. It made me look forward to summer. I just wish it could be this beautiful all summer instead of miserably hot!

Thank you God for the "discomfort" we went through to get to this blessed point.

Saturday

I love that the boys can get up on Saturday morning and play with each other! Alex just brought me down a picture that he made for me. He used glue and scissors so I'm a little nervous to see what shape his room is in. Time to go find out!
What did I find? A clean room with his bed made. I need to put this kid to work on my sewing room.

The Tooth Fairy...

came to our house last night. Nick was so excited this morning and talking a little funny as he adjusts to the missing tooth. The new tooth is already coming in behind.
Loosing his first tooth turned out to be a little traumatic. He stressed about the loose tooth for a day or so and probably drove his teacher crazy telling her about it every few minutes. Last night at dinner, it was really hurting to eat and then started bleeding. So he started to get very upset and I said "Here, let me pull it out". So I tried and it just started bleeding a whole lot. Finally, Ryan got the tooth out. Nick bled so much. We finally got the bleeding to stop and got him all cleaned up and he calmed down. He was very excited to show everyone his missing tooth and ran up to show Grandma and Grandpa Bradley when we got to church.
And now some thoughts on Alex who was not thrilled about the tooth episode. Of course, we focused completely on Nick and so Alex got upset. And I had to hold him for a while and try to pull his teeth out. He slept late this morning and wanted me to hold him again. He was very snuggly and patted my back and then ran and hugged Ryan.
Alex has been so independent since we got him, it is kind-of nice that he is wanting attention from us and giving hugs and kisses. He really didn't understand hugging or holding when we got him. This is a good sign that he is starting to understand what it means to have a family and is really attaching to me and Ryan.
We've been blessed with two amazing kids!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa Pruett

Grandpa Pruett turned 64 last Thursday. We didn't get to see him on his birthday but we did have lunch with him on Sunday. Hopefully, that threw him off and he didn't guess that he was having a surprise party tonight.

I didn't get a great picture because I didn't have my camera- had to use my phone and then crop it, but Alex really had a good time "helping" Grandpa open presents. Nick was busy watching a movie and kept coming in to see if it was cake time.

Nick also discovered he has a loose tooth. He is very concerned. I went in to check on him and he told me he was just worrying about his loose tooth. Alex fell asleep on the way home and Nick's conversation about the loose tooth turned into an in-depth conversation about adoption. We've been having a lot of those lately. He told me all about his teddy bear blanket with balls that he had in the orphanage. I don't know if this has anything to do with Grandma and Aunt Charlene having a conversation about our new cousin Brock- coming in June- and doing his nursery in teddy bears and sports. Nick also told me his Chinese parents put him in an Easter basket.

Nick and I sang a duet on the way home and he stayed on the melody while I sang a harmony, so that was fun! Isn't it amazing how much we have in common? He sings all the time about everything.

Project Chosen

Another adoptive mom decided to do a special blog project this month. She has featured a different adoption story each day on her blog and called it 'Project Chosen'. It has been really neat to read each story and today it is our story. The link is on the right- just click on the project chosen button or go to http://www.threadsoffaithfulness.blogspot.com/.
